this pic is a monumental failure. it has ended up nothing like i intended and conveyed nothing of what i was trying to... but it's pretty and it took me ages so i'ma post it.

dayna is fast becoming one of my favourite characters in coruscate, it's going to be fun writing her. now all i need is a big chunk of time to sit down and flesh the whole thing out. it'll be soon... i hope.

anyways, let me know what you guys think.

as you say: pretty ^____________________^
You have no idea how you inspire me.
Her expression is... just perfect.
You may not like it but I sure do.

very cool, I have a minor issue with t he body, but hey, you're drawing it not me. what blew me away is the coloring, it's amazing! so I ask three things.

a) how did you do the rainbow effect
b) how did you do the light tracing? (selection opacity?)
c) how do you do shadows on your art? burn ? opacity?
pretty, i like her hair

PLEASE DON'T SAY "THANK YOU", IT'S IMPLIED.... and everytime you say 'thank you' I'm forced to kill a kitten! Do you wanna be the one responsible for making me kill a kitten?!
wow, thanks man. i do like her expression... but as i said, it just wasn't quite what i was after.
what's the minor issue? i need constructive criticism, it's the ooonly way i'll learn.

as for colouring:

a) to get the rainbow gradient i just used the basic spectrum gradient setting in photoshop. to make it sphereical (in the big jewel on the sword), i made a square patch of the spectrum gradient and ran a polar co-ordinates filter on it which wraps the colours around in a circle.

b) the light was just using the point selection tool and drawing long triangles coming out of the jewel. then i made it white and used soft light i think. i barely ever used straight opacities for anything... always blend!

c) shadows are a combination of soft light and overlay. usually soft light is enough, but if there needs to be a darker area within the shadow, i use overlay.
yeah, she has real purty hair...
as I said, i have not studied figures, not even in porn but something looks whack, as far as I can see it relates to the positioning and the size of the breasts and the size of the hips... everything seems to have been dragged out in a straight line and repositioned at equal widths. that and for that abount of clevage I would think that the breasts would be abit higher, but hey, i'm not really qualified to tell you that crap. feel free to rebuke.

a) WTF? o.0? dude, i'm techie but hell when I get lost that's telling you somthing. Polar Co-Ord filter?

B) and C) blending. gah, can NOONE MAKE A DECENT TUTORIAL FOR THESE!
